Howard University’s Caribbean freshmen Bahamian Farion Cooper and Jamaican Nicholas Haughton continue to make an impact on the school record books as the season progresses. On Friday November 14 the Bison travelled to meet Loyola and Virginia Military Institute in Baltimore Maryland.
Cooper competing in the 100 yard individual medley became the second fastest swimmer in Howard history in that event. He clocked 57.52 to place 4th overall.
Haughton dropped almost 7 seconds in the 1000 yard freestyle to record 10:26.64 for 4th overall. Nicholas is now the 4th fastest swimmer in this event for the Bison. The Jamaican freshman showed his range by also making his collegiate debut in the 100 yard freestyle finishing 4th in 50.16.
The duo combined on the A team in the 200 yard freestyle relay to post the fastest time done by the Bison this season of 1:29.53.Cooper started the relay with a split of 23.40 while Haughton swam third. Haughton clocked 22.71 for his leg.
Cooper’s Bison A team in the 200 yard medley relay finished 3rd in the 200 yard medley relay in 1:40.67. Cooper was timed at 29.28 on his breaststroke leg.
