Notre Dame’s Jamaican sophomore Justin Plaschka made the most of his last dual meet, for the year the Boiler maker Invite   by recording 7 season bests. Three of those times at the meet which was held from Nov 20 to 22 were NCAA B qualifying times.


Plaschka dropped from 49.17 to 47.85 to win the 100 yard butterfly .That bettered the NCAA B time of 48.28. He would work his way to the top of the podium this time in the 400 yard freestyle relay. His Fighting Irish team A team won in a season best time of 2:56.60. The Jamaican had the fastest split of the relay posting 43.37 for second leg duties. The team is poised to be much faster this year as the Notre Dame team best last year was 2:56.03.

In the 50 yard freestyle final Plaschka posted 20.05 for 2nd place .That time was also under the NCAA B time of 20.19. He had set a new season and personal best in the 50 yard freestyle leading off the A team to second place in the 200 yard freestyle. He did his first sub second time of 19.92 to help the team to a season best time of 1:20.08.

Other time drops were seen in the 400 medley relay where the Irish A team clocked 3:16.65 for second .The team’s previous best was 3:21.62. The contribution by Plaschka was a 48.28 his best relay split of the season and the third fastest of the relay.

The shorter 200 yard medley saw an almost three second drop in time as they posted 1:28.91 for another second place position. This time Justin posted the fastest butterfly split and his season best on that relay of 21.07.

The B final of the 100 yard freestyle final saw him winning the race by over a second in 44.13. He crushed his previous season best of 45.86 .His time was fast enough to have placed 2nd in the A final. It also bettered the NCAA Division I B time of 44.29.

He made his season debut in the 100 yard backstroke .He stopped the clock at 49.80 to finish 3rd in the B final. It betters his best time for Notre Dame last season of 49.93. Notre Dame finished 3rd at the Invite totalling 557.5 points.
