INAYAH SHERRY HELPS BULLETS EQUAL SCHOOL RECORD IN THE 200 YARD MEDLEY RELAY AT FINAL MEET FOR 2015

Gettysburg College’s Barbadian freshman Inayah Sherry had a number of season and personal bests for the Bullets as they ended 2015 with the school’s Invitational which ran from Dec 3-5 in Pennsylvania. Sherry started competition on a good note as she helped the Bullets A team to 2nd in the 200 yard medley relay in 1:47.86. That performance equalled the school record set in February of this year. It was also a big season best for the team. Before the Gettysburg Invite the team’s best had been 1:51.67 with Sherry contributing with a 28.90. En route to equalling the school record Inayah dropped more than half a second to have the second fastest backstroke split of the relay with a time of 28.12. She also improves her personal best in the 50 yard backstroke of 28.20 set in February of this year. It also puts the Bullets as the 23rd fastest team in that event for Division 3 heading into the new year.
The Bullets A team would drop more than 3 seconds from their season best time in the 200 yard freestyle relay to record a time of 1:42.22.That earned them another spot on the podium as they finished 2nd. In their previous season best effort Sherry had contributed a 3rd leg performance of 25.79. At the Invite she swam the 2nd leg in 24.46.
In the 400 yard freestyle the ladies of Gettysburg had previously produced a season best of 3:46.79 .Sherry handled the second leg duties with a 56.79 clocking. At the Invite they dropped more than 8 seconds to finish 2nd in 3:37.70.Inayah again swam second but this time she stroked her way to a split of 54.17.
Sherry would be a member of the podium party in an individual event as she medalled in the 50 yard freestyle. She dropped her season best of 25.57 to place 2nd in 24.86.She also beat her personal best of 25.21 set in December 2012.
Her last podium finish would be in the 400 yard medley relay as a part of the Bullets B team. They finished 3rd in a time of 4:05.27. Sherry started the relay with a backstroke effort of 1:01.11.
The 5’4 swimmer who attended the Peddie school had a 2 second season drop in the 100 yard backstroke to finish 6th in 1:00.50. Sherry was just off her personal best of 1:00.45 .Inayah was also 6th in the 100 yard freestyle in 54.97.She again just missed her personal best of 54.86.The Bullets won their Invitational tallying 919.5 points.
