Big Green senior Kendese Nangle swimming in her last Dartmouth Invitational reset her own meet record in the 50 yard freestyle at the competition held from January 22 to 23 at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center.
Nangle lowered the meet record which she set as a freshman of 23.87 to 23.83.She was also the only sub 24 second swimmer in the race. Kendese would also return to the top of the podium in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Her Big Green A team of Megan Crook, Olivia Samson and Charlotte Kamai won by over 2 seconds for a total time of 3:31.37. Nangle had the 2nd fastest opening leg of 53.40.
In the 400 yard medley relay Nangle’s A team of Crook, Emily Holt and Kamai were 2nd in a time of 3:55.52. Nangle, a graduate of Peddie had the 2nd fastest backstroke split as she was timed at 58.35. In the individual 100 yard backstroke she went out slower 28.25 compared to her relay split of 28.11 but finished faster. She placed 2nd in a time of 58.15 .The event was won by Northeastern’s Christine Leon in 57.78.
In the 100 yard freestyle she placed 5th in a time of 53.15.She was again 5th in the 200 yard backstroke where she recorded a season best. The Big Green senior lowered her season best from 2:10.12 earlier this month to record a time of 2:07.35.
Dartmouth won the Invitational tallying 1140 points. Northeastern was 2nd with 1030, Boston College 3rd with 674 and the University of Massachusetts 4th with 643 points.
