Bahamian freshman Joanna Evans got back to winning ways when her University of Texas Longhorns went on the road to battle the University of Arizona Wildcats in Tucson Arizona on Friday January 29.
Evans crushed the field in the 1000 yard freestyle to win in 9:58.74. The margin of victory in the event was more than 15 seconds .For Joanna it marked her 6th win from 7 competitive starts in her first season of college swimming. She would record another convincing win in the 500 yard freestyle when she stopped the clock in 4:49.17. The victory margin of was over 2 seconds. It was also her 4th victory this season.
Though she did not win the 200 yard freestyle she was a part of Texas sweep of the podium. The Bishop Michael Eldon School graduate was 2nd in a time of 1:49.05 which is her 3rd fastest performance of the season. Teammates Madisyn Cox and Quinn Carrozza were 1st and 3rd respectively in times of 1:48.42 and 1:49.36.
Texas would go on to win the contest 154 to 146.
