The University of Notre Dame hosted their last meet before their Atlantic Coast Conference championships at their home pool the Rolfs Aquatic Center. Jamaican sophomore Justin Plaschka had five top 3 placings at the meet which was held from January 29 to 30.
Plaschka got the meet underway with a 2nd place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Justin got the Fighting Irish A team started with a 20.51 opening split. Teammates Tabahn Afrik, Reed Fujan and Daniel Speers contributed to a total time of 1:21.40. In the 100 yard freestyle Plaschka recorded his 2nd fastest time of the season when he stopped the clock in 44.37.He again combined with Afrik, Fujan and Speers to finish 2nd in the 400 yard freestyle .The team were runner up with a time of 2:58.49. Plaschka’s split on the 2nd leg was 43.71.
In the 50 yard freestyle Justin touched 3rd in a time of 20.28.It was also his 3rd fastest performance for the season. His 200 yard medley relay team of Bogac Ayhan, Andrew Jensen and Grauslys were also 3rd. Their total time was 1:31.04.Plaschka’s freestyle split was timed at 19.78.
In the 400 yard medley relay Notre Dame B finished 5th in a time of 3:21.78.Plaschka anchored with a freestyle split of 44.60.He was 7th in the 100 yard butterfly in 49.53.
At the end of the meet Notre Dame defeated Missouri State 230-128.They however lost to Grand Canyon 145.5 to 224.5 as well as Iowa 150 to 220.
