Trinidad and Tobago’s Emiro Goossen started his senior year at the University of Florida with a personal best swim at the All Florida Invite at Nova Southeastern University. The meet which ran from Friday Sep 23 to Sunday Sep 25 saw Emiro setting a new personal standard in the 400 yard individual medley.
His personal best before the start of competition was 4:32.03 .he had posted that time in 2011. At the invite Goossen lowered it considerably to place 4th in the B final in a time of 4:19.74.
Emiro, who is a top freestyle sprinter with personal best times in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle 44.06 and 1:36.81, swam longer freestyle races as well. He competed in the 1650 yard freestyle where he finished 11th in 17:05.36.In the 500 yard freestyle he finished 22nd in 4:53.27.
In 2012 while Emiro was a student at the Bolles School in Jacksonville Florida he would team with future Olympians Ryan Murphy (United states 2016), Joseph Schooling (Singapore 2016) and Santo Condorelli (Canada 2016) to set the fastest time ever done by high school team in the 200 yard freestyle relay of 1:19.27.
