Jamaica’s Matthew Lyn got his 2016-2017 collegiate underway on Saturday October 8 when his NYU (New York University) competed against SUNY Cortland (State University of New York at Cortland) in Manhattan.
The sophomore’s first race was the 1000 yard freestyle. He dominated the event to win easily in 10:11.20. His winning margin was more than 20 seconds. Lyn, who is a Business major at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business finished 2nd in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.21. His NYU team won the contest 605.1 to 461.2.
Matthew is the second fastest Jamaican man of all time in the 800 and 1500 metre freestyle events.
