On Friday November 11, 2016 Jamaica’s Annabella Lyn earned her first medal at the Florida 1A State Championships in Stuart Florida while representing the Pine Crest School. The meet which was held at the Sailfish Aquatic Athletics Center saw Lyn winning the Silver medal in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
In the 400 yard freestyle relay the ladies of Pine Crest just missed standing atop of the podium by .07. Alexandra Meszaros 52.07, Lyn 52.16, Hannah Virgin 53.57 and Marta Ciesla 49.22 put up a total time of 3:27.02 to win the Silver medal. That swim placed the Panthers 4th overall in Florida .Finishing first was Lake Highland Prep in 3:26.95.
In other events Lyn led off the Panthers 200 yard medley relay team with a backstroke split of 27.97. That helped the team to 4th in the Championship final with a total time of 1:47.64. This bettered their 2015 Championship position of 6th . It also placed the team as the 10th fastest in Florida.
In the 100 yard freestyle Lyn was a mere .01 outside the B final of the event. She recorded a time of 53.48 (split time 26.05). This is her best performance at the State Championships bettering the 54.89 she clocked in 2014.
In the 100 yard backstroke she placed 20th overall in a time of 59.80 (split time 29.43).She was just off her personal best time of 59.41.
Pine Crest girls finished 2nd with 260 points. Perennial powerhouse Bolles were pressed closely by the Panthers as they registered 270 points to claim the girls Championships title .It was their slimmest margin of victory in recent years
