MIKEL SCHREUDERS’ MISSOURI TIGERS JUST MISS LOWERING SCHOOL RELAY RECORD ON DAY ONE OF NCAA DIVISION I CHAMPIONSHIPS

The first day of the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming Championships on Wednesday March 22, 2017 saw competitors in action in the 800 yard freestyle relay .The competition being held at IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis saw Aruban Mikel Schreuders lead off the University of Missouri Tigers to a total team time of 6:18.62.

The team of Mikel Schreuders 1:34.71, Carter Griffin 1:34.60, Nick Davis 1:34.95 and Sam Coffman 1:34.36 just missed the school record of 6:18.25.The Tigers placed 16th overall. Their 2017 performance made it the 2nd year in a row that the Tigers were scoring in the 800 yard freestyle. The 2016 record setting team also included Schreuders. Prior to their 2016 performance the Tigers had not scored in that event in more than 6 years.
